He has received the TOTO Photography Award for the project ‘A Fine Balance’ in 2019 and the Experimenter Generator Production Grant for the project ‘Only In Good Taste’ in 2020. His works have been part of group exhibitions such as ‘Responses’ (2020) initiated by Goethe – Institut (Mumba), the ‘Zine Festival – Play’ (2022), organized by Kanike Studios (Bengaluru) and the Arles Festival (France, 2022) amongst others.
Statement:
“The project is a collection of narratives, which are directly or indirectly associated with the Yamuna river. My entry to this project was an active response to the popular photographic representation of the Yamuna river, which has been shown as a froth-filled and polluted river. Images of this kind have presented a linear character of the river, which has in turn made up a cultural memory. My intent with this project was to make propositions which force us to reevaluate the evidential quality of photography.”
Jury:
1. Neha Choksi (Artist, Performer and Writer)
2. Naveen Kishore (Photographer & Publisher, Seagull Books)
3. Ho Tzu Nyen ( Contemporary artist and Filmmaker)
