ZISHAAN A LATIF
Photobook: After Dawn / a letter to Seher : A never-ending goodbye : Chapter ‘Sunny Always’
The artist’s photobook, After Dawn / a letter to Seher : A never-ending goodbye : Chapter ‘Sunny Always’, is an emotive tribute to his late sister, Seher. Having been introduced to the craft and medium of photography by Seher, the artist’s affective tribute introspects upon lived and imagined experiences, montaging conversations, dedications, and speculations around their lives, using the means of a memory-box—handwritten notes, photographs, paper roundels punctured to carefully thread the work. Latif celebrates the ephemerality of these exchanges, the transcendent spirit of their relationship, and the forever reflections that may come to bear on their future lives as a trace of her existence.
